Did you know that approximately seventy percent of the energy of your home is lost through your windows and doors? It’s true, and we want to help you prevent some of that energy loss and lower your energy bills by helping you replace your windows.
While you can have your windows replaced at any time of the year, we love doing it during the spring when the weather is warming up and the days are filled with more sunlight. However, that is when many of our clients prefer to have their windows replaced as well and our schedules can get booked quickly.
When you do decide that it is finally time to replace your windows, you will want to have the most energy efficient windows that are available installed. This way, your home will stay cooler during the summer when your air conditioning is on and warmer during the winter when you need your furnace.
Here are 4 things that you will want to do as you are getting your windows replaced this spring:
Clean around your windows
All the dust and pollen that collects around your windows can cause a problem when we go to caulk around your new windows. Not only can the caulk look terrible, it will keep the pollen and dust in place for you to breathe in.
Deactivate the window sensors of your security system
This may sound logical, but you wouldn’t believe how many times we have gone to replace a window or two and had the security system go off or the police show up.
Remove the blinds and curtains
The blinds and curtains that are covering your current windows can get in our way as we are removing your old windows and installing the new ones. Taking these items down will allow us to work faster and finish earlier.
Remove the furniture that is blocking the window
We will need to access the windows from inside and out, which means that any furniture that is placed in front of them will need to be moved. While this may seem quite inconvenient, it is necessary, plus the furniture will not get dirty or damaged as we are working.
If you are considering having your windows replaced this spring or summer, you are going to want to set up your appointment sooner than later. After all, it is the best time of the year to have the work done and once it is finished, you can relax and enjoy the rest of the beautiful weather from the inside of your comfortable home.
